Who we are
The Cardiff Fertility and Reproductive Research Group have been pioneers in fertility and reproductive health psychosocial research since 1997 in the School of Psychology, Cardiff University. Our website address is https://cfrr.org.uk. Together with our collaborators, we designed fertiShare. The contact email for the fertiShare course is cfrr@cardiff.ac.uk.
Cardiff University is a public research institution established by royal charter to advance knowledge and education through its teaching and research activities. As such, personal data is processed on the basis that doing so is necessary for our public task, is for scientific and historical research purposes which are in the public interest, and is subject to necessary safeguards.
Cookies
Cookies are simple text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device by a website server. Each cookie is unique to your web browser. It will contain some anonymous information such as a unique identifier, website’s domain name, and some digits and numbers.
If you visit our login or register pages, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
About your data
For the purposes of this privacy policy, the Cardiff Fertility Studies Research Group will only handle data related to your registration data on fertiShare, the program’s usage pattern (e.g., number of logins, date of the last activity, lessons completed) and your response to the questions fertiShare asks you, be it multiple choice, scales, or open text questions. The data stored for research purposes will not include any information that can identify the users of fertiShare (i.e., all stored data will be anonymized).
Please note there are third-party services used on the SPPINN platform that are for statistical purposes only and that aim to complement the information on the program’s usage pattern, i.e., Google Analytics, which are governed by their own Privacy Policies (which can be consulted here: https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/en.html).
The security of your data
CFRR recognise the importance of your privacy and is committed to protecting the integrity of your personal data and keeping it safe. Various technical and organisational security measures have been adopted to protect your personal data against its dissemination, loss, misuse, alteration, treatment or unauthorized access, as well as against any other form of treatment. illicit. You can contribute to the security of your personal data by not sharing your fertiShare registration information (i.e., username and password) with other people.
How will we use your data
The data collected will be used only at the collective level (for example, average number of lessons completed) by tmeasuring of researchers who developed fertiShare (Cardiff Fertility Studies Research Group), and only for research and monitoring purposes, with the aim of continuing improving fertiShare and measuring its usefulness.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Anonymised collective level research data will be used for academic publications, conference papers and other activities associated with sharing research findings. Anonymised data may also be uploaded to the Open Science Framework (www.osf.io), a public repository of research data and materials, as recommended for research transparency and integrity. When data is uploaded to the OSF, it is available for other researchers to use for purposes beyond this project. Some of the data arising from the resaerch will be used for the purposes of PhD research at Cardiff University. All completed Cardiff University PhD theses are made available publicly via the Online Research at Cardiff University (ORCA) webpage: https://orca.cardiff.ac.uk/. Only anonymised data will be published in PhD theses arising from research.
How long we retain your data
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Data will be stored for a period of 5 years after its collection, or for a longer period, if justified by the research objectives. By using fertiShare, you are authorizing the use of the data collected, in the terms described above.
What rights you have over your data
If you registered in for any of our courses:
- Access: you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. Portability: You are free to give your personal data to any other entity or subject without having to inform the Cardiff Fertility Studies Research Group.
- Deletion: you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
- Revocation of authorization for treatment: if you wish to stop accessing fertiShare, you can object to the processing of your personal data at any time, through the contact below, without compromising the lawfulness of the treatment carried out based on the consent previously given.
- Notification: you have the right to be notified in the event of a data breach likely to imply a high risk to their rights and freedoms, as stipulated in article 34 of the GDPR.
